Beginnings

"The heart's spiritual awakening is the true work of our lives." -Emerson

Hello dear readers, my name is Kristin - welcome to my little corner! For the few of you that already know me, you may know that I have been on an intense personal journey this year. It has been amazing on so many levels! One of the things I have been asked a few times along the way was - when are you going to share what you've been doing!? Well... as the year is now coming to a close, I felt that now is finally the time that I can begin to share some things.

I'm cold but I'm happy! (Haha)

A couple of notes first:

I'm going to be (/try) breaking this down into a number of blog posts... probably not a ton, as I don't *think* this is going to be a thing that I do longterm, but I figured this platform would be the easiest way to share and be able to link to things. I don't actually know how many posts this will take, (Ha!) but I'm hoping to be able to post about once a week.

Secondly, I do not intend to share the bulk of the material that has been presented to me this year, as it's far too much to try to cover in a few blog posts (I mean, I myself read over 50 books, not to mention any exercises, videos, articles, music, art, experiences...), but also it is sort of an unspoken agreement: "The first rule in Myth group is, what happens in the Myth group, stays in the Myth group." (Just kidding. Love me some Chuck Palahniuk.) The specific content belongs to E. Much of it also happens to be very personal. Sure, I'll share some of myself here, but generally I'm just going to be sharing the things that really impacted and inspired me this year. Basically this will be my highlights reel! I love being inspired and I love when others share with me, so I'm hoping to pass some of that good-ness back into the universe. I don't have any affiliate posts or links, and everything I share is just because I love it.

So - what exactly did I DO this year?!

In the smallest of explanations - on a whim, I joined an online workshop through Squam Art Workshops, called The Magic of Myth: End of the Quest - lead by the one and only Elizabeth Duvivier. You can find the description on the Squam website.

A great many things lead up to me actually finding and joining the workshop - lets just say - I was in the right place, at the right time, for me. ;) But it ended up being this unexpected, amazing, inexplicable journey. I'm now convinced - any time you can take a workshop, or a class, go on a retreat, or listen to a lecture - do it. You never know what gold will surface for you. Synchronicity is beautiful.

"The coming to consciousness is not a discovery of something new. It is a long and painful return to that which has always been." - Helen Luke

If you'd like to - follow the flow of inspiration! Anything and everything I share can (and will) lead to more inspiration. But also, if you've already found inspiration from something I share, or if something holds no interest for you, that's fine too, leave it sit and move on. This is just me casting out tidbits. Where they land isn't up to me.

So, the first source of inspiration: the Bhagavad Gita. I read it (for the first time!) before the year officially began, and I totally suggest doing the same - or even the Essence of the Bhagavad Gita (by Eknath Easwaran, and I like his translation of the Gita too). I feel like it really set things off on the right foot for me. Maybe even just google the sparknotes for it. ;) There is some real gold in there, and I have really tried to implement many of the concepts into my own life. Have any of you also read it? I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Please feel free to shoot me a comment or message or telepathic communication ;). (Just kidding on that last one.) *See* you all soon. ~ K

  1. I've often wondered about your journey, but since these sorts of things are intensely personal, I didn't want to intrude. I'm looking forward to "hearing" more! Much love, friend!
