March: Story

March was all about discovering the story of our life. E. had a lot of really great exercises for us to do, to help us out. Basically, if we can know our story up to today, we can then create our story for tomorrow and beyond. That's really why the workshop was called the Magic of Myth - every hero has their journey story. Once you know where you are in your journey, you can create the path in front of you. Complex idea? Yeah, maybe. I guess you either get it, or you don't.

I actually started out my month by watching Under the Tuscan Sun - which I had never seen before, and after watching it I couldn't believe that I hadn't seen it before! I loved it! (I actually ended up reading the book a couple of months later because I liked it so much.) I recommend.

I then read through the book Wheels of Life - on Chakras. I definitely didn't do as much study and work on chakras as I would have liked to- it is certainly something that I will be coming back to. But maybe Chakra work and study is a lifelong endeavor.

I volunteered to make tiny pots for a non-profit that gives plants to patients at the local Women's clinic. This was a challenge to me because - 1. I'm an introvert, and I went to the studio by myself. 2. I had never worked with clay before. 3. It was something tangible I could do to support women.... which for me is new as well. I had a lot of fun, and look forward to doing something like this again in the future.

I read  My Life on the Road this month too, and absolutely fell in love with Gloria! I've since marked a few more of her books for my wishlist.

There was also this article in which Gloria interviews Anne Lamott. I honestly had not read much from Anne Lamott, but after seeing this TED talk from her (which I actually didn't stumble on until November), and even though I am no longer a Christian, I am definitely drawn to her voice, and will be marking a few of her books for future reading.

I also read The Fifth Agreement and really liked it. I had never heard of it before, but of course after reading it - I saw multiple copies at all the thrift stores in town (take that as you may). Funny how that works, right? Anyway, its basically about 5 concepts/rules/agreements for yourself to follow, and in following them you hopefully raise your awareness and evolve - "transforming our lives into our personal heaven". Take it or leave it - it fit with the story theme of the month for sure.
